Ariel is more popularly known as “The Little Mermaid” from the same animation film released in 1989. She is the youngest of all seven daughters of King Triton, the ruler of Atlantica. Ariel, a full-spirited young mermaid who simply adores humans, grew to love collecting some common human things. She and her best friend, Flounder, always go inside shipwrecks to find some of her “treasures” and hide them in her secret grotto. Knowing that her father despises human beings, Ariel has always had a hard time expressing her feelings to him.

One night, as she is swimming around with Flounder, she finds herself watching humans celebrating Prince Eric’s birthday on a ship. She instantly fell in love with the Prince and attempted to save him before he drowned himself in the depths of the ocean. Prince Eric, awakened by her sweet sounding voice and a blurry glimpse of her beauty, was determined to find the maiden who saved him. The Little Mermaid’s story centers on true love that can surpass all trials through the virtue of sacrifice.
