Winnie the Pooh is the famous bear living in 100-Aker-Wood together with his friends Christopher Robin, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, and Roo. Winnie the Pooh’s history can be traced back as far as the World War I when Lieutenant Harry Colebourn bought a young black bear cub from a hunter and named it Winnipeg or Winnie for short. When Lieutenant Harry’s troop engaged in battle in France, he took young Winnie to the London Zoo for safekeeping.

Young Winnie has been one of the favorite attractions of the zoo and a young boy named Christopher Robin became his best friend. Christopher would play with Winnie inside his cave and even named his own teddy bear after him. As the son of the famous author, A.A. Milne, Christopher Robin’s friendship with Winnie became the inspiration of the author for writing “Winnie the Pooh” series of books. Winnie the Pooh books’ popularity has reached out to Walt Disney’s daughters and later inspired him to make a full feature film in 1966 about the famous bear.
